Tom Hopper thanked City supporters for their support during Saturday’s defeat against Peterborough United.

Following an unbeaten start to the season, City were dealt their first loss of 2022/23 at the Weston Homes Stadium.

The travelling support of more than 1,600 Imps supporters backed City throughout the match and beyond the final whistle, much to Hopper's appreciation.

He said: “The fans were outstanding from minute one, and it felt like a home game. It's such a shame we gave them nothing to cheer about because they did not stop singing all match.

“They tried their best to keep us going, so we can only thank them as a group and we want to give them something to cheer about going forward."

The club captain has said his team-mates will learn from the experience and expects a reaction when they travel to Barrow on Tuesday in Carabao Cup action.

He added: “As a group we have to learn from this, dust ourselves down and accept we can be better than we showed.

“They key is to bounce back and thankfully in this league, the games come thick and fast. The old saying is to never get too high, and never get too low so we have to show character now against Barrow."

City return to league action on Saturday, August 27 against Fleetwood at the LNER Stadium - secure your seat HERE.
