Pals Battalion backing the Lincoln City Half Marathon

14 July 2022

Sponsored by

Lincoln City Foundation have partnered with Pals Battalion to help drive forward the first ever Lincoln City Half Marathon.

Pals Battalion, a community interest company, is a community of veterans, service members and civilians who work to improve the heath and wellbeing of veterans and their communities.

Pals Battalion will become a champion partner of the event, with supporters raising money for both causes and contributing to the running of the day.

Leon Stokes, founder and director of Pals Battalion, said: "Having seen first hand the effects of trauma in veterans slipping through the net, Pals Battalion fills a need to provide support for veterans that is community-focused that traditional clinical methods just doesn't hit.

"As a Lincoln lad I'm proud that we are partnering with Lincoln City Foundation and Curly's who share our values, and I'm looking forward to seeing just how we can enhance the event."

Alice Carter, head of healthier communities at Lincoln City Foundation, added: "Leon and the team from Pals Battalion will really add to the day, providing activities and motivation throughout the course and in the event village at Boultham Park.

"The race itself will take place on Sunday 18 September and there's still plenty of time for people to sign up - we've loved seeing all the pictures and videos from people tagging us on social media as they're going through their training!"

As well as signing up to participate, there are still opportunities to support this community event as a sponsor. To find out more about the event and register for your place on the start line, visit www.lincolncityhalfmarathon.co.uk
