Mark Kennedy is pleased with the progress his side has made since his arrival in the summer.
The Imps remain in two of the three cup competitions and are sitting midtable in Sky Bet League One.
Kennedy said: "One thing we are is a really balanced group. I don’t want anybody to think we’re happy with losing games of football, because we are not, but collectively we are really pleased with where we are this season.
"As a new coach with new ideas, it is a process that takes time, but I am very happy with the direction we are going in and think the trajectory curve is upwards still.
"When we beat Ipswich we were really pleased, but nobody got carried away. When we lose a game, we don’t do that either.
"Unfortunately in a cup you don’t have the opportunity to amend a result and while I understand the frustrations, I have moved on and I am looking forward to Tuesday night.”
The Imps' attention is now focussed on a third round Carabao Cup tie against at Bristol City, and Kennedy is excited by the test awaiting his side at Ashton Gate.
"They have a brilliant manager with some very good individal players. It will be a really tough fixture on a very big pitch in a fantastic stadium, but again it is a game that we go into with the mindset of getting into the next round.
"I think we have acquitted ourselves well against the so-called stronger teams. In games where we may have dropped points, we have had fantastic spells but not seen games out despite the performances being good on the whole.
"Across our matches throughout the season we have taken points from nearly 80 percent of the fixtures, so there have been a lot of positives."
