Lincoln City Half Marathon this Sunday

14 September 2022

The first Lincoln City Half Marathon will take place as planned this Sunday, with The Priory Witham Academy now acting as the event village.

With Boultham Park unavailable due to the bandstand being used to host tributes to her late majesty Queen Elizabeth II, these change means the event can continue.

The majority of the route will remain the same and road closures will remain as advertised, with the race now finishing at The Priory Witham Academy.

Alice Carter, head of healthier communities at Lincoln City Foundation, said: "We are very grateful to the team at Priory Witham Academy for being so supportive when Boultham Park was no longer available to us.

"We know people have worked so hard to build up fitness for the run, and are raising money for some fantastic causes, and we hope it will be a real celebration of life and the local area - and we may even see a few people in red, white or blue to celebrate the life of her late majesty Queen Elizabeth II."

Participants will be given the opportunity to pay respects to her late majesty Queen Elizabeth II with a minute's silence at 8.30am before the race.

Amended race packs have been emailed out to everyone participating in the race, with full details - including road closures - available at https://curlysathletes.co.uk/lincolncityhalfmarathon.

Alice added: "With a number of memorial events meaning some volunteers have been unable to join us, we are still looking for a few people to help us put on a memorable event. Anyone interested can contact us directly via impshalf@lincolncityfoundation.co.uk."

The first Lincoln City Half Marathon is being run by Lincoln City Foundation in partnership with Curly's Athletes, and thanks to support from our sponsors Pals Battalion, Upp Broadband and CGI.
