House: Best season of my career so far

In his first full season as a League One striker, Ben House is sitting comfortably as City’s top scorer.

His aim to get into double figures for goals was surpassed with seven games to go as the Imps defeated Cheltenham Town on Good Friday, before the frontman struck again on Easter Monday, yet House is still eager to continue adding to his tally.

He said: “I’d say this is probably the best season of my career so far. I think I had a good season in my first year at Eastleigh, but with the goal tally and the level in mind, I think this year beats that.

“I wanted to get into double figures at the start of the season. As it has gone on and my numbers have crept up, you then just want more and more, so I want to finish the season strong now and get as many goals as I can.”

Pushing House on to achieve his targets is the positivity generated by the head coach and the supporters. The forward feels these factors have given the side plenty of belief which has set the Imps on course to one of the highest finishes in the club’s history.

“Mark Kennedy is a very positive guy. He tells you what you want to hear, and I know that can sometimes get a mixed reaction, but with the group of players we have, it’s good he gets behind us to believe and support us. The whole of the staff do the same, it is a good group, and they pass their confidence on to us and I think you can see that on the pitch.

“Ultimately the fans are the biggest things at every club. They drive us on and our supporters are always the loudest in the stadium. We are appreciative of that; I saw Lasse Sorensen’s interview after the Plymouth game saying how giddy he got when he heard the fans chanting his name, and I think we all feel that when we hear our chants, you get a real buzz from it.”
