City’s U18s were on the right side of a nine-goal thriller as they returned to winning ways with victory against Huddersfield Town.

With goals from Bailey Adamson’s two penalties, Gbolahan Okewoye and Kelly Fombad, their coach Ash Foyle was delighted with the effort from his young side as the Imps finished with three U15s and started with multiple U16s on the pitch.
Foyle said: “I was really pleased with the group considering we were so young, with no second year scholars and mostly schoolboys yet to start their scholarships.
“It was a very interesting game that posed a number of questions and challenges to our young players. I was particularly impressed with our attitude and the attacking threat that we carried all game.
“The goals we conceded were slightly naive, but that will be fixed as they gain more experience. The result shows the talent within our academy and what an exciting group this will be in the next few years.”
City's U18 side will be particularly youthful for the rest of the campaign, with a number of second-year scholars who have not been offered professional terms going out on work experience loans and Oisin Gallagher having his first taste of men’s football on loan at Barwell.
While the rules allow for three U19 players to play in these fixtures all first year pros, apart from currently injured Jovon Makama who had been featuring in the first team squad, are out on loan with Morgan Worsfold-Gregg at Cleethorpes Town, Hayden Cann at Gainsborough Trinity and Freddie Draper & Elicha Ahui at Drogheda United.
