Kennedy: We have built good foundations

Mark Kennedy believes his side have built a solid base to progress from during his first season as City’s head coach.

City are on course for their second highest league finish in decades and Kennedy has reflected positively on the hard work his team have put in to achieve this.

He said: “We haven’t had a season looking over our shoulders which has been a real positive, and we’ve given ourselves a great platform to start with a structure to build from.

“When you build a house, you don’t start with the roof, and I think what we’ve done is stabilise things and given ourselves a promising foundation.”

City will be aiming for a positive reaction to last weekend’s result at the LNER Stadium, but Kennedy is expecting a tough encounter against Fleetwood Town.

He added: “The hardest thing in football is winning a game of football, and while we’re never happy to lose, it’s part and parcel of football. We have carried on working hard and we’ve had a hugely structured, high-energy week.

“Scott Brown is somebody I’ve followed closely, and I think our seasons have been similar. He’s had an outstanding career as a player, and he’s done a brilliant job with his side who we know will be difficult to beat.”

City’s fixture at Highbury Stadium is eligible for domestic streaming, meaning you can back the side from home with an iFollow Imps match pass!
