Lincoln City Foundation’s CEO Martin Hickerton recently enjoyed a visit to 10 Downing Street to represent the club and discuss the positive impact football can have on society.

The meeting was a roundtable conversation about the power of football to help create a safer society and focused on the work that football clubs and football foundations undertake within the community.

Martin and other guests were hosted by a special advisor to the prime minister Myles Stacey OBE and Damian Hinds who is the Minister for prisons and probation.

The group were invited to the event by Hilton Freund who is the chief executive of the twinning project, a program which the Foundation operates at HMP Lincoln and HMP Ranby, to provide coaching and qualifications to those people due to leave prison.

Martin said: “It was an absolute privilege to join colleagues and friends from the football charity world to talk about the impact that our great game can have on the communities around us.

“Having a voice at the heart of the government was a great opportunity to put Lincoln City on the map in terms of our work with people in need across all aspects of society.

“We very much look forward to continuing this vital work as we move forwards.”
