Cian Bolger started his career with local club Celbridge Town before joining Leicester City’s academy where he was awarded Play of the Year in 2009.

During his time with the Foxes the centre back had three separate loan spells with Bristol Rovers.

In January 2013 Bolger joined Bolton Wanderers. The 26-year-old failed to make a first team appearance during his time at the University of Bolton Stadium but regularly captained the development squad.

The former Ireland U21 star spent time on loan with Colchester United and Southend United.

In 2014, Bolger signed for Southend permanently on a two-year deal. He scored the winning penalty in the club’s play-off final win against Wycombe Wanderers during the 2014/15 season.

In May 2016, the six foot four defender made the move to Fleetwood Town where he made a total of 108 league appearances for the club before joining Danny Cowley’s side in January 2019.
