A technically proficient and athletic goalkeeper, Sam Long enjoyed a successful first year at Lincoln City being awarded Scholar of the Season for 19/20.

The talented goalkeeper signed his first professional deal with the Imps in October 2020. In April 2021, Long was called up to England’s Goalkeeping Development Camp at St George’s Park, working alongside FA England Head of Goalkeeping Tim Dittmer.

In August 2021, Sam made his Lincoln debut in the Papa John's Trophy versus Manchester United U21. He made a further two appearances in the competition against Bradford and Sunderland before joining Gainsborough Trinity on loan in October 2021.

Long was recalled a month later to feature in City's Emirates FA Cup campaign versus Bowers & Pitsea and Hartlepool United. 

He made his Sky Bet League One debut against Plymouth Argyle in January 2022 before joining SSE Airtricity League Premier Division side Drogheda United on loan until June 2022.

After spending the first half of the 2022/23 season with Boston United, Long signed for Bromley on loan until the conclusion of the campaign.
