Joe Taylor was impressed with the way the Imps responded to conceding an early goal to put themselves in a great position heading into next weekend’s final game against Portsmouth.
The striker’s magnificent solo effort plus a barn-storming finish from fellow forward Freddie Draper guided City to a vital three points.
Taylor said: “Going 1-0 down in the way that we did, the response was really good. It took us a little bit to get going in the game, but once we did we settled down nicely and we did our stuff.
“We’ve put ourselves in the best position possible. It’s all just looking forward to the Portsmouth game now.”
Taylor was full of praise for strike partner Draper after the 19-year-old volleyed the winner home in the second-half to send Imps fans into delirium at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium.
He added: “Freddie was brilliant. We had a chat and he said we’ll just forget about the first 20 minutes and focus on the rest of the game.
“He does so well because, for his age, he does get beat up a lot in games, and he does so well to keep himself in the match.
“I was so happy when he got that goal because he thoroughly deserved it.”
It was Taylor though who initially drew the Imps level with his tenth goal for the club - a fantastic run from his own half which ultimately saw the loanee find the top corner with an exquisite finish.
“We’ve done brilliantly to clear the ball initially and thankfully it fell to me,” he said.
“I managed to get a touch in front of the man and then I picked the ball up inside my own half, did what I did, and gaps just kept opening up and I kept running into them.
“It’s always nice to hit ten goals. It’s credit to the boys and the work we put in everyday on the training pitch and I’m just the lucky one at the top of the pitch who puts it in the back of the net.”
