The Imps boss was pleased with his side’s performance as they took their points tally to 22 for the season.

Michael discussed the hard work the Imps displayed on Tuesday saying: “It was hard not to be happy with Tuesday night, we got the win and a clean sheet, the lads worked hard.

“I was pleased with the performance from the boys and we will continue to enjoy the fact that we are competing with top teams.”

City face Doncaster Rovers on Saturday, with Michael Appleton coming up against his former Blackburn Rovers assistant Darren Moore.

Michael explained how he expects Moore’s side to want to control the game and cause problems in front of goal.

“Darren is someone I know very well, we played together at West Brom," said the Imps boss.

“He is doing a good job there, they are a team who can score goals at home and they are a dangerous team, we saw that when they played Ipswich and Bristol Rovers.

“They like to control the ball and keep possession; we’ve done well with clean sheets, but we will have to work really hard on Saturday.”
