Lewis Montsma had surgery on his knee in Belgium last week and will be supported by the club as he starts his rehabilitation.

The Dutch defender had to come off during the fixture at Fleetwood Town and scans confirmed a ruptured ACL, as well as other damage to his knee, requiring an operation and at least 12 months of rehabilitation.

He will start this process back home in the Netherlands before returning to Lincolnshire in the summer.

Director of football Jez George said: “We are delighted that Lewis’s surgery went well, and we are committed to supporting him throughout his extensive period of rehabilitation.

“This will initially be in Holland, as we felt that it would be better for him to be around his family at home while he has limited mobility in the early stages of his recovery.

“Lewis is extremely grateful for all of the messages of support that he has received from his ‘extended family’ at Lincoln City and knows that everyone has him in their thoughts.  I would also like to mention our lead first-team physiotherapist Kieran Walker, who has been exceptional in his care for Lewis.”
